[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_01]: If Podcaster A was going to record a podcast using a particular type of online software and Podcaster B was going to use a completely different type of software

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it possible that both of them can do a show together?

[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I made it happen. I'm going to tell you how on this episode

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_01]: These show which I have designed and created to help you

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you make an amazing show for your audience and that is what it's all about

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_01]: You deliver the amazing content. You record it and get it out to your amazing audience

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So they can enjoy it so you can create it and have so much fun creating an amazing podcast

[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely love podcasting

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I think I actually love creating and editing that content in general

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think audio podcasting really holds a special place in my heart

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely love creating the stuff and that's probably why like I literally do this for free

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_01]: When I create a podcast although I do make some money from podcasting we'll get into that little bit later

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_01]: but I do really enjoy the actual creation process of sitting down

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Taking audio taking a recording recording audio and packaging it together making it sound the absolute best I can and then

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Distributing it out to all of the wonderful podcast places so we all could enjoy it in no matter what app you're using

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_01]: No matter where you're listening to the podcast you could enjoy this amazing content now

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're going to record audio for your podcast

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Where do you start? What kind of equipment do you use? What kind of software do you use?

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_01]: What kind of recording platforms do you use by goodness this can really like really get overwhelming?

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_01]: There's so many different choices. There's probably like probably close to like a million different combinations of choices

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_01]: You can use to create and record an actual podcast

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But when it comes to recording something for your podcast

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I would suggest fighting away that works absolutely best for you and your schedule and

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Your like financial situation because some people will spend tons and tons of money on gear and equipment and software and new computers

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And new cameras and all this crazy expensive stuff

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Thousands of dollars on this stuff to get their podcasts put together to get something recorded and

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_01]: You know editing it make cost money. You got to pay for that if you don't do it yourself

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And if you want to do it yourself

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_01]: How do you do that? What software do you use for that? Like I said there's probably like a million different ways

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_01]: They get a podcast down and if you're starting a podcast without understanding any of the

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Interprecies of how to make a podcast then it can become very very overwhelming. There are software platforms out there like right now

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: That can pretty much handle a lot of the heavy lifting for you

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Descript always seems to come to mind that people will use to script take audio from either a zoom call or

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Some other audio recording of some kind they'll put it into described

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Descript makes all of the transcript so that when you are editing that audio or that podcast

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_01]: You're editing it like a text file

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_01]: So that when you do edit it you chop out this word that word, but it's not done in a typical wave format

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not done like in the

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_01]: audio sense of things. It's kind of done in

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It's done in a way where I think a lot of people probably feel a little more comfortable

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Editing was something like the script when you put them into an audio editor we see the wave lines

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_01]: It kind of freaks him out like oh my gosh. He's wave audio file lines like what do I do with these things?

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_01]: What do they mean? I don't know if they're saying I don't this line means I don't know that stuff means

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: So when it comes to editing I know a lot of shows will actually

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Farm out their editing services

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I have dabbled a little bit with editing myself

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I have an entire editing page on my website if you go to

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Potastic Audio.com slash services

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_01]: You will find my entire suite of services that I provide from audio editing

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Audio recording and even some one-on-one coaching

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It's all right there at

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Potastic Audio dot com slash services my top tier plan that I offer my top tier package

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I like to call it full service podcasting in that full service package

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I handle all of the physical audio recording like I actually

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Sits out and record your podcast for you. They're kind of wondering well, how do you do that?

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I also take that same audio and I make sure it sounds amazing get amazing audio out of it

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I edit it. I make sure it sounds great making sure the graphics look great

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_01]: I distribute it out to your podcast media host of choice and then I send it out

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And I do all the regular stuff that gets involved with creating an audio podcast

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: By getting back to the physically the recording of their podcast for them

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_01]: How would you possibly do that?

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And the reason why I do it in the first place is because most people are really good at creating content

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: But they're not very good at creating good audio and on top of that

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: They're not very tech savvy when it comes to having multiple people on the same show at the same time

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Different locations different type of equipment different gear

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I know you can use something like teams or you can use something like zoom and you can record it all that way

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_01]: But I want to make sure that when I promise to deliver an amazing podcast experience for their show

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_01]: That I get the absolute best audio possible and the only way to ensure that is if I physically record it

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_01]: That way I can guarantee the audio sounds the absolute best it is now. How do I physically pull that off?

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I use clean feed. It's cleanfeed.net

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been using them for many many years the audio quality through clean feed is so crystal clear

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It is amazing in fact clean feed was really designed for radio broadcasting and for like broadcast quality stuff

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_01]: But because I have a clean feed pro account it allows me to record

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody that I want on their own individual

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_01]: audio track

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Multi track in high quality wave files for each and every person and I can have as many as my computer and bandwidth can handle

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_01]: But I kind of said it to I think four so the host and

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Like three other people so like four total on the podcast episode at one time

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_01]: That feels like a fairly balanced out show you can go up more. I mean, I've gone up to like I think six people on a single episode for them

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_01]: But that gets a little crowded. It's a little wonky not saying I can't do it

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just that it just gets a little

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_01]: A little crowded. I think on the podcast when you have that many people on a single episode

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So normally what I do is on the day of the recording when we have scheduled out the day to physically record their episode

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I give them a one hour time slot to record with me. They tell me

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_01]: What time and when that works best for them? And we book it and it sounds great. It's great

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_01]: So normally I send out the link to the host and anybody else that they want on that podcast episode usually

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like two to three people and I'll send the link out and then they all join in to me via clean feed

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And what I do is with clean feed pro is I can take my track and the other tracks

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Out of the recording. I can only record what I want it to record

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So if I want to record the host and his guest

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I can click his host and guest and they both can talk to each other and have a great conversation

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And I can record each of them in high quality wave files and it downloads

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Instantly and when I mean instantly, I mean during the recording

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I can physically get those audio files while the room can record it live

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's a beauty of clean feed is that it does things in a live almost like a live broadcast mindset

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Versus other platforms where things get recorded locally

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Then you download them separately and then you go to work on it later

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_01]: This is designed so that if we want to do a live concert like right here

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_01]: We could stream it live using clean feed to anywhere we want any radio station

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_01]: We want anywhere in the world live with a really low latency and it does things in stereo audio

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know stereo bits of big difference or not to you

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_01]: But when you have high quality audio stream directly to you anywhere in the world and you're able to save it instantly

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_01]: It cuts down on the

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Waiting to download the files thing that usually happens with all of the other

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Like platforms that do the whole online cloud double-end or style of a recording

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Which is fine in all but because everything comes through so quickly and it sounds amazing is that in these second

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_01]: We are done recording like the second we're done recording I can have those files and go to work on them

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Immediately and when they're paying you and time is money the quicker you can get things done the better

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_01]: So the company that I record the podcast for is a major moving company here in the United States

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_01]: They've got offices all over the country. They've got drivers

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Brother moving company all over the country and they like to talk about moving and all kinds of stuff

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_01]: That's related to their business and the industry and sometimes is talk about sports other things too

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_01]: but

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Dan the co-owner of the company usually

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Quarting to me when and how they want to do the podcast like what day and who's on the show and things like that

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_01]: So a few weeks ago he brought it to my attention that he wanted to have one of his like best drivers

[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_01]: On the show that week to do a recording and I'm thinking great. Let's do this. Let's figure this out

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: But then I'm thinking if he's a driver and he's cross country somewhere

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_01]: What are the chances that he has a full podcast setup?

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Probably zero and what are the chances? He has good Wi-Fi. Well, maybe close to zero

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And what are the chances he knows how to settle the stuff up on the computer even if we got it going

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_01]: What are the chances on that maybe you can figure it out? Maybe not I don't know

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_01]: So I was talking to Dan about this. I said hey I have an idea

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_01]: But what if there's another way to physically record you guys all on the podcast together and I'm thinking

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Scratch my head like how am I gonna physically pull this off?

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_01]: What am I gonna do because I know it Dan always comes into me if you have clean feed and he sounds amazing

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_01]: That's because he's actually using a actual microphone the microphone that he uses is the Samsung Q2U microphone

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a microphone I recommend if you're gonna start out doing a podcast

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: You can use that microphone directly into any computer directly via like the USB port or you can plug it into any

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_01]: audio interface that takes XLR connections like a roadcaster pro or a scarlet or

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Anything like that zoom pod track any of those ones. It works great for both and it's like 50 bucks for the microphone

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And it sounds great now

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_01]: That's great for him. He sounds amazing comes into me all the time

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_01]: But what do we do about his driver that he wants to interview on the podcast?

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_01]: So how do I figure this out? How do I make sure that Dan can interview his driver on the podcast and record everything and make it sound

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Amazing and ship it out to his podcast media host. How do I do that when I am physically right here in this office in this studio

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_01]: It at my house, which is probably a good

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: 20 miles away from Dan's office and he is in his office with his computer his setup and his driver

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Is in Seattle, Washington

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_01]: parked in his truck which happens to be over

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_01]: 1200 miles away from here. So here I am presented with this problem and I'm trying to figure out like how do I make this even happen?

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: How do I pull this off?

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is where an audio podcast

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Really kind of comes in handy for situations like this

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So then I remember the time a little while ago when Christine and I were recording guest interviews

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And we sent on a link to a guest to record interview. They were up north not quite as far as Seattle

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think they were somewhere somewhere outside of San Francisco area and

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_01]: We just assumed it would be just another like we sent him a link they joined in through their computer or their microphone or whatever it was

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And we do the interview like we normally normally do and for whatever reason

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_01]: They kept cutting out they couldn't hold their signal even when I switched the clean feed setting down to the

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_01]: low talk back setting which

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Technically allows you to like

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Do more with less signal if that makes sense. That's where they kind of explained it to me

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But when people kept cutting out or their signal strength wasn't that great

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I would bring the quality of the call down to like a low talk back

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_01]: It still sounds fairly good, but it sometimes helps when you have somebody that keeps dropping out on the call

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_01]: But this person for some reason kept really cutting out a lot and it was getting so frustrating and then it dawned on me that

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Wait a second wait a second here. I've got a roadcaster pro 2

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And I know for a fact because I tested this that

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_01]: The Roadcaster pro 2 has got a Bluetooth option to connect a phone to your roadcaster and I'm like well

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I know I can do that. So here's what we did. I actually called that guest with my phone

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Connected to the Roadcaster and Christina and I conducted the regular interview all done on the roadcaster

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_01]: All through the telephone and thinking that was great. I recorded everything fantastic

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But that was both of us being right here in this room

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And I know Dan isn't gonna come all the way to my house to record his podcast with his driver

[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_01]: He's just not gonna do that and I'm not gonna bring this entire rig on my stuff over to his office to do this either

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's gotta be a way to figure this thing out

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So I got the idea what if I called his driver with my iPhone connected to the roadcaster

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm thinking is it even possible?

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Because I've never done anything quite like this to where I got podcast or a

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Dan coming in via clean feed to me and I've got his guest coming in via my phone via my iPhone

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Just calling him on the phone coming in to me. Is it even possible that the both of them?

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Could even talk to each other is it possible that they actually could even hear each other?

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I know I could record everything as long as the roadcaster actually hears y'all

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_01]: You see the signals all the roadcaster going up and down

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: You know you can physically record the audio. That's not a problem. The problem

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I was kind of trying to figure out is whether or not if they both could hear each other and have a conversation without any kind of delay

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Because when you're juggling multiple connection points and multiple things

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_01]: running through a single place like my place is like

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Grand Central Station for the radio. It's all going through me and out to them with different setups

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it even possible?

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Like no, there is a latency with a phone call versus something quick like clean feed

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Which has usually very low latency

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So without throw things off and then are they even gonna be able to hear each other?

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Because that also was stolen me off. How do I make this even happen? Well, I gave it a shot

[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I had Dan a log you with clean feed. I had him on the horn as hey Dan hang out a second

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: May call your driver right now. I connected my phone a via Bluetooth and I switched it to

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Focus mode to ensure that it makes sure that nobody called me during this recording or I got any messages or any alerts of any kind

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_01]: To disrupt the phone call so the phone call was locked in to their driver connected to the Bluetooth on the roadcaster

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I had Dan coming in like he normally does through clean feed

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_01]: So his channel was the USB channel coming into the roadcaster pro

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_01]: The driver on the phone was coming in through the Bluetooth channel on the roadcaster and I was able to record when he had the record button

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I said it records everybody on their own separate audio track and

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Here is a clip of Dan and the driver having a conversation ripped right from their podcast episode that I produced

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_01]: talking about how

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Dan the co-owner of the company had just purchased new jackets for all of their drivers to use

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Who enjoy because it was I believe driver appreciation week so this is what it sounded like check this out

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_02]: We made a jacket that could be worn as the days get longer

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_02]: You know at night as the as the nights get colder

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's a nice warm jacket, but it's a reflective jacket. So it's not like you're gonna wear this to to church on Sunday

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_01]: But why it's just we got a

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_01]: The one of jacks and we got a walk into the warehouse with it. That was you saying we've collected it all

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That's stuff

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a jacket so when you're parking your truck at night and you get out and you're you're parked at a loaves or or wherever

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_02]: TA wherever you fuel

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Put the signs walk across the parking lot where those knuckleheads from Swift and run you over

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, yeah, I'm not slipped on all of it all in now. Leave him alone

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_02]: They think boys do now

[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_02]: That's better

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Well you want to know the number one place for accidents

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_02]: For the trucking industry. It's the truck stops. Yeah, I had a guy back into me once and I mean

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_02]: He bait for it dance. Oh yeah, he didn't get that stuff. It's still down time and that's it can yeah

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like anything else you know you're moving along you got a busy schedule and next thing you know you got a

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_02]: You got damage got to go put it in a shot

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_02]: So this jacket here is to keep you safe and to keep you warm

[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_02]: So I hope everybody likes I hope everybody likes it but is one of those things where I say

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_02]: We're pushing you out and oh, yes, my house. Yeah, I'm out. He'll be picked it out. You just go look

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Like it or not. I'll tell you if I picked it out

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_02]: We get a week at back on every port in all right that it works. I got some I haven't switched safety

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_02]: y'all are a hard group to buy for and it can't please anybody there

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_02]: You know that's true

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: So for coming in on just a phone

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it sounds pretty good. I made it sound fairly good and that's what I have done with their podcast because I know

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Not all of their guests and not all of their people on their show have the best equipment

[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_01]: dance got a good microphone because well because I bought it for them. That's why I

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_01]: physically gave him that microphone and he bought one more for co-host but

[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_01]: In situations like that when all you have is a phone it is possible

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_01]: to physically take two different sources and run it through the roadcaster pro and record it. Now if I wanted

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_01]: to not saying anybody would but if you wanted to you could have like a podcaster A coming in on something

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_01]: like squad cast or some other internet source and podcaster B coming in on a zoom or something like

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_01]: and you yes you can physically record both of them as long as I think you need to

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_01]: USB inputs coming in to the roadcaster basically you need two different sources coming in. In this

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_01]: case I actually did. I had one source being the USB coming from the computer and the other source was

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_01]: coming through my physical iPhone connected via the Bluetooth so it is possible to do that

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: normally you wouldn't normally you just would have like everybody on a zoom call or clean

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: feet session or squad cast or oversight whatever you use. Everybody would be coming in on that same

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_01]: singular platform which makes things super easy to do this only happened because

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Dan doesn't come by the house. Dan either records at his house or his office with his laptop

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and his microphone and that's all he needs and I sit here and I record everything for him via

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_01]: clean feet and the same thing goes with him in his guests and that is how I handle podcast editing

[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_01]: on the full service scale side. Now if you are looking for somebody to handle your podcast recording

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_01]: too I might have some slots available I know space is very very limited or maybe just want me
